Groundworks NOLA - Earthlab
Groundworks NOLA's home base, the Earthlab, was a green space with a bio-swale, but they wanted an outdoor classroom with a street presence. Collaborating with Tulane's Small Center and neighborhood stakeholder s, we were able to work through many iterations of ideas that addressed all of the relevant issues with beautiful design. The final result was achieved through dying and casting concrete with custom formwork and milled form liners. The porous, textured walls provide metering and order on the site, while establishing a playful and inviting entrance. The previously opaque wall, became porous, with branding of the space for the neighborhod to see.
